BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have given their promotion hopes a major boost by winning twice in four days.
James Webster’s Thurlow Nunn League premier division high-fliers followed up Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Haverhill Rovers with a dramatic 2-1 success at home to Godmanchester Rovers, on Tuesday night.
The latter hoisted Regent back up to third in the table, leapfrogging Gorleston, who they visit on Saturday.
And it boosted their promotion hopes as they have to finish in the top three to gain promotion to the Ryman League.
Former FC Clacton man Billy Wales scored their weekend winner while Ricky Griggs and Terry Rymer were on target against Godmanchester.
The latter won and then clinically buried a last-gasp penalty, to seal a dramatic victory at North Road.
“It was a massive victory,” said delighted boss Webster.
Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Clacton lost 2-0 at Norwich United.
Both goals came in the first half.
