Braintree Town's gruelling week of travelling ended with them sitting fourth in the Skrill Premier table after a 0-0 draw at FC Halifax Town.

Having completed more than 1,400 miles on the road and played 270 minutes of football in six days, the Iron enjoyed a four-point haul that kept them in the race for the play-offs.

They may have started with last-minute heartache at Gateshead on Saturday, but Alan Devonshire's team showed the character they have in their squad with a 4-0 win at Southport and ended with a sterling 0-0 draw at FC Halifax Town.

The Iron had the better of the chances in the first half at Halifax, with Dan Holman going closest as he dragged a shot across the face of goal when well-placed.

But it ended goalless and even though the hosts came back strongly after the break and gave the Braintree defence a big test, that was how it stayed at the end of 90 minutes.

Braintree are now fourth in the table, while Halifax stayed seventh.
