Colchester United goalkeeper Sam Walker admitted the adverse conditions they encountered at Swindon Town were the worst he has ever experienced as a professional.
And the U’s goalkeeper revealed he resorted to rugby-like tactics, in a bid to aid his side's chances in the gale-force winds at the County Ground.
Colchester battled to a 0-0 draw against the Robins, after the League One fixture survived two late pitch inspections.
And after helping his side keep their third clean sheet in their last five games, former Chelsea goalkeeper Walker felt the U’s dealt well with the elements.
Walker said: “They were certainly the worst conditions I’ve played in."
“As a goalkeeper, you just have to kick through the ball and hope that it goes as far as it can.
“It was a case of almost kicking into touch like in rugby!
“It’s not such a bad thing, as long as you get it up the pitch."
