Colchester United have splashed the cash on new covers in a bid to protect their pitch from the elements.
The U’s are hoping that the waterproof sheets will act as a temporary barrier to help protect their Weston Homes Community Stadium surface from the rain.
Joe Dunne’s side, who have not played in League One for nearly three weeks, are due to host promotion-chasing Rotherham United on Saturday.
