Heybridge Swifts lost out to visiting Soham Town Rangers.
Swifts fell to a 3-1 Ryman League division one north defeat at Scraley Road.
The home side looked to blow away the cobwebs after the wet weather had disrupted their fixtures and struck to take an early lead when Chris Bryan fired home on 16 minutes.
Swifts didn’t rest on their laurels and went in search of another goal.
Michael Toner went close to adding a second with a long range shot from 30 yards that went just wide.
But it was Soham that found the back of the net when Luke Stanley hit the equaliser on 28 minutes.
And two minutes later the visitors took the lead when Joey Abbs converted from the penalty spot.
After the break, it was Soham who went further ahead when Chris Lindsay added a third on 68 minutes to seal the win.
