Dunne warning over "manic" fixture schedule

Gazette: Looking for a repeat - goalscorer Macauley Bonne takes on Peterborough's Kgosi Ntlhe in the U's 1-0 win over Posh, last October. Looking for a repeat - goalscorer Macauley Bonne takes on Peterborough's Kgosi Ntlhe in the U's 1-0 win over Posh, last October.

Joe Dunne believes the wet weather could have a big bearing on promotion and relegation issues in League One this season.

And the U’s boss fears not having a big squad could make it harder for them to cope with the hectic programme.

The U’s are hoping to return to action for the first time in a fortnight when they travel to play Peterborough United tomorrow.

Live approx 15 miles from Peterborough - not raining here yet but forecast isn't great for this afternoon and evening. Local paper for Peterborough says that pitch inspection planned for tomorrow morning but will be amazed if the game goes ahead. Fixture backlog won't be good, was hoping that momentum of last few games was going to be built upon and have real concerns after the departure of Luke back to Everton that defence won't be as strong - should never have let John White leave.

John White would never have left the club had they treated him decently. Offering someone a big drop in wages and only a 12 month contract what did the club expect.

Feering and Crazy are right. This was Joe Dunne's biggest mistake, giving John White the push like that. I'm so pleased that Southend are doing well under his captaincy and I hope they get promoted.

For once all are agreed, John white shoukd never have left. Not one defender at the club better than him. Never amazing but always good, just what you want, some consistency. Also a really good bloke.

I agree Whitey was invaluable and was able to give more than satisfactory performances in any of the defensive positions. Our loss has been Southend's gain. Young Coker is doing very well at Southend too.
