Marcus Bean believes he is enjoying the best form of his Colchester United career.

The experienced midfielder has played his part in helping U’s climb into the top half of the League One table.

Bean was outstanding in Colchester’s 4-2 win at Carlisle United, capping an impressive display with a goal.

And the 29-year-old, who joined the U’s in the summer of 2012, says he is currently at the top of his game.

Bean said: “I think it’s probably my best spell for form since I joined Colchester.

“But I think that probably applies to everyone at the minute, as everyone is playing well.

“It’s a lot easier playing in a team when that’s the case and it’s really enjoyable at the moment.

“We’ve got so much attacking threat.

“That, coupled with the work-rate which I think there’s definitely been a change in over recent weeks, is paying dividends.

“We’ve been winning the ball higher up the pitch more often and with the quality that we have going forward, we’ll always score.”
