Heybridge Swifts secured victory against visiting Barkingside.

Jody Brown’s Swifts sealed a 1-0 Ryman League division one north win at Scraley Road with a second half goal from Chris Bryan.

Heybridge Swifts started at a fast pace looking to make an early impact.

Reece Morgan went on a good run and fired in a superb shot that brought out a good save from keeper Chris Clark.

From the resultant corner Swifts went close again with a scrambled effort from Robbie King.

Bryan then had a chance but his shot was well saved.

Swifts created one of their best chances of the first half when King headed just over from a Bryan cross.

But Barkingside worked their way back into the game and Danny Hayes curled a shot just over.

Danny Barber’s crossed in for King and the ball sat up nicely for Ryan Doyle to strike but his effort was deflected out for a corner.

Six minutes into the second period Jamie Guy fired a shot at goal for Swifts but the ball landed on the roof of the net.

Swifts were then saved by an offside decision as Calvin Poku was denied an opener for the visitors a minute later.

King then sent an effort wide for Heybridge as the game swung back in their favour.

Corey Ellis came to the rescue of the visitors when he made a good block from Bryan.

But on 66 minutes Swifts made the breakthrough when Bryan found the back of the net.

The goal proved all-important as Heybridge held on to secure the win.
