Sanchez Watt struck twice to send Colchester United on their way to a thumping victory at Carlisle United – and then admitted he should have bagged a hat-trick.

Watt netted a double to give the U’s a half-time lead at Brunton Park and went on to help them record a 4-2 victory and back-to-back wins in League One.

But the former Arsenal youngster admitted he was disappointed to be substituted in the closing stages, as he had his sights set on scoring the first-ever hat-trick of his professional career.

Watt told the Daily Gazette: “I’m happy with my two goals but I feel like I should have scored a hat-trick.

“I wasn’t too pleased to come off because I just wanted to score more goals and I’ve missed a lot of football.

“I should be happy that I scored twice but you always want to do better and I wanted to take the ball home!”
