Dominic Vose says he is having the time of his life at Colchester United after extending his contract with the club.

But the 20-year-old has vowed not to let his standards drop after agreeing a new deal with the U’s.

Vose has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The former West Ham United youngster had been on a monthly deal, after joining them as a free agent last November.

But he has now earned an extension, following some impressive displays for Joe Dunne’s side over recent weeks.

Vose told the Gazette: “The club showed some faith in me by rewarding me with the month to month contract and hopefully I’ve given something back with my performances.

“A few months ago, I wasn’t playing for anyone and it’s nice to be a part of something.

“I’m enjoying playing for the club - it’s the most enjoyable time of my career so far.

“I feel very comfortable here and I hope that continues.

“All I’ve ever asked for is to play football and the manager has allowed me the chance to do that.

“I hope that he’s been happy with what I’ve done so far.

“But I’m not complacent and I’m still going to treat it like it’s still a month to month contract, because nothing is ever guaranteed.

“I still want to push on with this team.”

Vose has played his part in Colchester’s upturn in form in League One, over recent weeks.

The former Barnet player has helped the U’s secure a ten-point haul from their last five matches.

“We did well over the Christmas period and picked up some points,” said Vose, who has made nine appearances for U’s.

“The Notts County defeat deflated us a bit but we bounced back well against Oldham.

“Since then, we’ve picked up more points and we’ve started the year by getting four points out of six.

“We’ll go up to Carlisle this weekend with plenty of confidence and the level of morale at the club is very good.”

Colchester will now host Sheffield United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Tuesday, February 25, kick-off 7.45pm.

The fixture was originally due to be played on January 25 but had to be rescheduled, following the Blades’ progress in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Colchester will now attempt to play their Essex Senior Cup quarter-final home tie against Thurrock next Monday night.

The fixture was called off for a second time because of a waterlogged pitch, following an inspection on Tuesday morning.
