Colchester United claimed their first away win since the opening day of the season after recording a vital 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.
Joe Dunne's side took a seventh-minute lead when Oldham left-back Ellis Plummer sliced into his own net after Craig Eastmond had latched onto Marcus Bean’s pass and crossed.
Jabo Ibehre and Eastmond both fired long-range efforts wide but the Oldham defence looked nervy and the U's went 2-0 up just after the half hour.
Ibehre tapped home from three yards, after Dominic Vose had got on the end of Brian Wilson’s fine pass and picked him out.
Oldham started the second half well and U's goalkeeper Sam Walker did well to palm over substitute Connor Brown's long-range drive.
But substitute Ryan Dickson drilled a good chance wide after Vose had broken the offside trap to set him up.
And although Oldham substitute John Pritchard clattered the woodwork in stoppage-time, the U's were good value for a welcome three points.
