BRANTHAM ATHLETIC and HALSTEAD TOWN were the only winners on a disappointing weekend for our Thurlow Nunn League contingent.

BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT drew, but there were defeats for STANWAY ROVERS, WIVENHOE TOWN, FC CLACTON and BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES.

In the premier division, Brantham pulled off another fantastic victory on the road, seven days after their thrilling FA Vase success at Haringey Borough.

This time they got the better of Kirkley & Pakefield, 2-1.

Fifth-placed Brightlingsea extended their unbeaten run to seven league games after drawing 1-1 at home to Mildenhall Town.

Clacton were unlucky to lose 2-1 at home to Walsham-le-Willows - conceding two very late goals - and it was a bad day for both Stanway and Wivenhoe.

The latter suffered a particularly sapping 2-1 defeat at the only team below them in the premier division table, Woodbridge Town.

Stanway suffered a 5-2 defeat at leaders Hadleigh United.

In marked contrast, division one side Halstead came from behind and grabbed a last-gasp winner to see off Debenham LC 2-1.

Elsewhere in division one, Braintree Town Reserves lost 1-0 at Ipswich Wanderers.
