Witham Town are working to get squad up to full strength
8:00am Saturday 26th October 2013 in Sport
WITHAM TOWN are working hard to get their squad back up to full strength as they look to continue their superb start to the Ryman One North season.
A 3-0 defeat by St Albans City saw Witham bow out of the FA Trophy last Saturday, but their focus is now firmly back on the league campaign and today’s trip to Brentwood.
Town had been due to host Harlow on Tuesday but the match was postponed, because of a waterlogged pitch at the Village Glass Stadium.
They have only lost once in the league all season and sit third, but the demands on their squad are increasing with a punishing run of games coming up Assistant manager Brad King says the need to get people fit is paramount, especially with a number of key players carrying knocks.
He said: “We are back to the league now and know we need to get as many points up on the board as we can.
“That’s why we need to get the squad back to full strength.”
MALDON & TIPTREE leapfrogged Witham into second spot, following Tuesday’s 0-0 draw against Redbridge.
Terry Spillane’s side are at home to Romford tomorrow.
