Bonne has a bright future says U's boss
Macauley Bonne has a bright future ahead of him - providing he continues to work hard.
That is the view of Colchester United manager Joe Dunne, who gave the teenage striker his senior Football League debut last night.
Bonne came on as a late substitute for David Wright in the U’s 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury Town.
The 18-year-old has been prolific for Colchester’s under-18s in the Youth Alliance League so far this season.
Dunne said: “It was a special moment for Macauley and I’m pleased for him.
“He’s showed great promise in the youth team and he leads the line exceptionally well.
“He’s powerful and he gets in behind defences.
“He has a good future if he gets his head down and he keeps working hard.
“I gave him a real responsibility to play up the pitch and I think we saw that in the second half.”
After making his debut, Bonne tweeted: "Absolutely buzzing feeling making my debut for @ColU_Official last night all the hard work pays off hope to have many more chances".
