A DUO from Colchester and District Fencing Club both lost out to eventual winners at the Leon Paul Junior Series for Foil at Camden.
Colchester and District FC’s Felix Fardell competed in the under-15 category.
After the first set of poules he was ranked third and rose to first place after the second set, where he won all his matches.
Fardell received a bye to the last-16 as a result and easily won his next two matches but lost the next match 15/8 to the eventual under-15 winner.
Fardell finished third overall and was presented with his medal by Great Britain Foil team duo James Davis and Richard Kruse, who had been refereeing at the event.
Myles Ashforth finished fifth overall in the under-11 category.
After the first set of poules he was ranked second but dropped to fifth place, after the second set.
In the direct eliminations he received a bye for the first round, followed by wins of 10/2 and 9/5.
The match in the final eight was 6-6 at the start of the last period and then tied at 8-8 when Ashforth’s opponent scored a hit.
With only five seconds left, Ashforth had to flèche to attempt to level to match.
But it did not pay off and he lost the fight 10/8 to the eventual under-11s winner.
