LITTLE Horkesley’s David Le Grys won two gold medals and set a new world record at the UCI Track Cycling World Masters Championships, in Manchester.
Le Grys, 58, was in fine form at the event and also claimed a bronze in the team sprint, where he rode with Neil Potter and Neil Campbell.
Le Grys won gold in the 500 metres time trial, where he set a new world record for the 55-59 age group after clocking a time of 34.835 seconds.
And he was also victorious in the sprint, eventually seeing off the challenge of American rider Jay Walkoff.
Le Grys’ success comes hot on the heels of him winning three golds at the recent European Masters Track Championships.
He said: “I’m unbeaten in the 500m TT but all the same, I have great expectancy and pressure to win and it was nice to retain my title.”
“To win three European golds and two World Championship golds is fantastic, considering I was injured for most of the winter.”
