Lloyd hoping for more World Grand Prix success
Colin Lloyd will stir some happy memories when he kicks off this year’s World Grand Prix in Dublin tonight.
The Colchester darts ace is preparing to return to the Citywest Hotel, the scene of his first major title, in 2004.
Lloyd beat Alan Warriner 7-3 to lift the trophy and reached the final of the competition again the following year.
Lloyd’s success in the competition helped him reach the world number one spot.
And the 40-year-old is now hoping for more success in the tournament.
He said: “Winning the World Grand Prix in 2004 was my first ever major final victory and it was a fantastic feeling.”
Lloyd takes part in the first match in the tournament tonight when he takes on Ronnie Baxter (7pm start).
