Anticipation is key for U's boss Dunne
Joe Dunne wants his Colchester United players to improve their anticipation levels in front of goal.
But the U's manager is positive about the club's start to the season, despite back-to-back defeats.
Colchester play Coventry City at Northampton Town's Sixfields stadium tomorrow afternoon, looking to get back to winning ways.
They have scored only five goals in the league this season but Dunne is nevertheless pleased with the chances his side have been creating.
Dunne said: “There’s a lot of positives.
“There’s a good vibe about the club and we’ll find a couple more gems.
“What we have to do now is score more goals, with the dominance that we’ve had.
“We need to get that second goal and we spoke about this with the team in a constructive meeting.
“Are we really going to get through games and win them with only one goal?
“We need that second goal - I understand that and we understand that.
“What’s positive and pleasing is that we’re creating opportunities to score.
“I’m confident it will come because we are creating a lot of chances but I do acknowledge that with our dominance in possession, you need to take advantage of it.
“A second goal for us at Dagenham the other night would have killed them off and I don’t think there was any way back for them, had we scored it.
“The good thing is that we’re scoring and no team has kept a clean sheet against us yet.
“That’s very encouraging for us and we’re starting on the front foot.
“We’re not scrapping around searching for goals and we’re creating chances through a good way of playing.
“We just need to work with our attacking players on probably their anticipation skills - that’s what we’ve been speaking about."
