Colchester clinch premier division title

Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club have secured title success.
The Castle Park side were crowned champions of the Piri Piri North Essex League premier division after a beating Ipswich by five wickets.
Colchester posted 179 for five in reply to Ipswich’s 177 for nine to secure the title.
Second-placed Frinton suffered a blow when they lost to Kelvedon by eight wickets, allowing Wivenhoe to close the gap with a 138-run win over Copdock.
There was no action in division one and in division two, top-two sides Little Bardfield Village and Great Bentley both benefited from concessions.
Cavaliers (217 for nine) beat Purleigh (178 for four) by 39 runs and Boxted (77 for four) won by six wickets against Eight Ash Green (74).
In the only game in division three, Harwich and Dovercourt (265 for eight) enjoyed a surprising 55-run win over Ardleigh (210 for nine).
In the top-of-the-table clash in division four, leaders Stebbing (150) lost by 51 runs to second-placed Chappel (201).
Gosfield (218 for five) beat Boxted (170 for seven) by 48 runs and Great Braxted and Tiptree (94 for two) enjoyed an eight-wicket win over Kirby (93).
There were wins for the top two in division five, with leaders St Margaret’s and Clacton both winning.
Coggeshall were crowned Piri Piri North Essex League Cup winners following their 109-run triumph over Maldon, at Star Stile.
Meanwhile, Earls Colne emerged triumphant in the Piri Piri North Essex League Plate Final, also at Halstead.
They demolished Tendring for just 49, to gain a 138-run victory.
