U's can deal with expectation levels, insists Dunne
Colchester United fans will turn up to watch their in-form team tonight with high expectations, according to Joe Dunne.
But the U’s boss is confident his side can cope with any added pressure, following their fine start to the season.
Colchester can go top of the League One table if they beat out-of-soughts Carlisle United and Wolves slip up against Crawley Town.
It would represent a remarkable turnaround given the U’s struggles last season, where they won at Carlisle on the last day to stay up.
Dunne said: “There will be expectation from the fans tonight but that’s OK.
“It creates a positive environment and I’m not going to tell anyone not to feel that.
“If the fans feel good at the moment because the team are doing well, I haven’t got a problem with that.
“I’d rather fans be turning up here looking to see us win and put in a good performance - long may it continue.
“My job though is to manage my team.
“It wasn’t so long ago that we had that game up there (at Carlisle) that everybody knows about.
“We came out of that well and now we meet again not long after that, in slightly circumstances at the moment.
“The last time we played them it was to stay in the league and that brought pressure but this time, it’s a different kind of pressure.”
