U's won't go to Bramall Lane for day out
Joe Dunne says he is ‘sick and tired’ of losing heavily at Bramall Lane - and has challenged his Colchester United team to compete tomorrow.
The U’s have won their first two league games in this campaign but have slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United, in each of the last two League One seasons.
And while they have tasted success there in the cup over recent years, Colchester have not beaten the Blades on their own turf in the league since notching up a 2-1 win there, in 1979.
U’s boss Dunne said: “I’ve been on that bus as a manager and a coach when those last two games have got away from us.
“Sheffield United are challenging for the Championship and beyond and they shouldn’t be in our league but all the time they are, we have to go there and compete.
“It’s not a day out – I’m sick and tired of these days out.
“We want to go there and compete against them.
“We need to stay focused on what we’re going there for.
“We’re not going there to have a day out at Sheffield United, that’s for sure.
“It’s going to be a hard game but we’ll go there and do our best.”
