Sam Walker says Colchester United’s players are brimming with confidence ahead of tonight’s vital basement battle with Hartlepool United.

The U’s have made the 266-mile trip up to the north-east to take on fellow strugglers Pools, on the back of two successive wins in League One.

Colchester will start the showdown at Victoria Park two points above the relegation zone, against a Hartlepool side who lie eight points adrift of safety.

And 21-year-old on-loan Chelsea keeper Walker revealed the U’s are feeling bullish about their chances of securing a third successive win for the first time since October.

Walker said: “We have a lot of belief in the squad at the moment and confidence is high."

I hope they are not feeling over confident otherwise they could let their new winning streak fall flat. Their confidence has been quite brittle in the past so it would be easy to get too carried away. Keep your feet firmly on the floor lads and then I'm sure you'll be ok.

Half time, Jabo sent off, have to settle for a draw now, most probably. Hope he is only suspended for one match rather than three.

And it's 0-0, sounded like great defending on the radio, well done the lads for getting the point and ensuring that the Monkeyhangers couldn't creep up on us. And congratulations to the 62 who went to cheer the U's on, hope they have a safe journey home with their hot drinks courtesy of two errant players.
