U's on a high ahead of Hartlepool showdown
9:25am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
Safe hands - Sam Walker has kept two successive clean sheets for Colchester United.
Sam Walker says Colchester United’s players are brimming with confidence ahead of tonight’s vital basement battle with Hartlepool United.
The U’s have made the 266-mile trip up to the north-east to take on fellow strugglers Pools, on the back of two successive wins in League One.
Colchester will start the showdown at Victoria Park two points above the relegation zone, against a Hartlepool side who lie eight points adrift of safety.
And 21-year-old on-loan Chelsea keeper Walker revealed the U’s are feeling bullish about their chances of securing a third successive win for the first time since October.
Walker said: “We have a lot of belief in the squad at the moment and confidence is high."
