Freddie Sears declared the only way is up for Colchester United after helping them claim back-to-back wins.
The in-form forward scored for the third successive match to help the U’s to a 3-2 triumph over fellow strugglers Portsmouth, at Fratton Park.
Colchester are now three points above the relegation zone in League One, after notching up successive wins for the first time since October.
Sears said: “It was a massive three points for us.
“This is the stage of the season where you need wins, to stay ahead of the teams in and around you.
“The win against Walsall the week before took a lot of pressure off our shoulders and the boys have been flying.
“The only way is up for us now, if we keep digging in and winning games."

Undoutedly the last two games have been good confidence builders, but I still think the so called recovery is very fragile. We are still missing something in the centre of midfield when we are under the cosh. We don't have too many problems being able to win the ball, but we must stop the rot by promptly giving it back to the opposition. Still think we are two or three players short of having a team that can get us to midway in the table.

We once had David Fox who Lambert bought in, who was a play maker, but his stay was short lived. One thing is for certain, JD will know the kind of guy that fits the bill and hopefully that will be the Arsenal youngster Eastmond in the close season. It's obvious what Joe has planned by the way players are now going out off the exit door, so I still expect more welcome departures in the near future. Joe's skating on thin ice with this player movement, when in a relegation battle, but one I admire for having the guts to take a gamble. Next season will be the best team we have had for years that i'm sure off. Up the U's win or lose.

The other midfielders recently that have gone on to better are Hammond and Jackson. Now if we still had them and Fox perhaps.......

Yes I appreciate the uphoria from getting two wins on the spin, but we also have to look at things realistically. If we can't keep possession when the heat gets turned up we will continue to lose many more games than we win, which we can ill afford. With no more easy games this season, it is still an issue to be concerned about both from my own perspective and, I would think, Joe Dunne's too..
