John Sullivan has left the door open for a return to Colchester United.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has gone back to Charlton Athletic, following the conclusion of his loan spell at the U’s.

Sullivan wanted to extend his stint at Colchester, having spent a month at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

But Joe Dunne decided against keeping Sullivan for longer.

The U’s boss plans to recall Mark Cousins for his side’s clash with Oldham Athletic, on Saturday.

However, Sullivan has said he would welcome a return to Colchester in the future - should the opportunity arise.

Sullivan said: “I would have loved to have extended the loan but that’s football."

No I think your alright at Charlton, how many goals did bringing in a new keeper cost us, nothing against you but stick with Mark in between the sticks!

Didnt think anyone could be as poor as Cousins but I was wrong. Dunne cant have personally scouted Sulivan. If he did then he got it wrong. I say give Pentney a chance or just release him. Whats the point in him being there?

Anybody between the sticks but Cousins he knows himself that his not up to it at this level, Come January we will still need a new keeper.

The goal keeper isn't the major problem. The biggest problem is the defence. Unless we can get a goal keeper in who can organise his defence anyone will look poor there at the moment.

As Mr Honest says, give Carl Pentney a chance. Maybe he can organise the defence better than Mark. Pentney runs a goalkeepers academy for youth players, and they learn a lot with him. Someone who can teach and impress teenagers may have what it takes to order his defenders around.

No thanks Sullivan. We need a goalkeeper who is a shot stopper, and also who can demand the defence and proper shout at them to wake them up when they need to.
Cousins is a good keeper but just can't order hes defence.
As the above comments state about Carl, yeah give him a chance he looks good.
