Dowsett leaves Team Sky

ALEX Dowsett is leaving Team Sky to join Spanish outfit Movistar.
Dowsett, 24, one of the most talented young British riders will compete for Movistar in the 2013 season.
He has spent the past two seasons with Team Sky and before that rode on the American Trek-Livestrong development team.
Dowsett achieved eighth place at the 2012 World Championships and is considered one of the world’s best Individual Time Trial specialists.
He won the 2010 under-23 European time trial title and silver in the 2010 Commonwealth Games time trial.
The reigning British ITT champion, from Cocks Clark said: “Leaving Team Sky was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make.
“This isn’t a decision I have taken lightly, Sky is a fantastic team and I was flattered that they wanted me to stay but I have a new opportunity and a new chapter of my career.
“I would like to thank everybody at Team Sky who have supported me over the last couple of years.
“I now look forward to an exciting 2013 with Movistar.”
