CREATIVE vandals have targeted an award-winning Colchester dental surgery for the third festive season in a row.

Family visiting dentist Stephen Pitt on Christmas Day drove past the Dental Studio he runs on Bergholt Road, only to find his sign had been covered with a picture of a large grinning skull wearing a Christmas hat.

The sign, adapted from one of artist Damien Hirst’s most iconic creations, also includes the new slogan “a very merry mental dental studio Christmas.”

This is the third year running that the studio has been targeted over the festive period, and Mr Pitt gave a statement to police about the latest incident over the weekend.

Mr Pitt, recently named best young dentist in the east of England by Dentistry magazine, said the pranksters must have struck between 2pm on Christmas Eve and noon the following day.

“One side of me is, oh well, that’s a bit funny, but the other side of it is – it’s really annoying,” he said.

“We don’t know who is doing it and why they’re doing it, when we’re doing everything right.

“I’m a little bit upset about it.
