Colchester: Army and police in musical harmony Buy this photo »
There was a feast of festive music at the 11th Christmas Cracker concert at Colchester’s Charter Hall.
The Band of the Parachute Regiment joined the Essex Police band for the first time as 750 music-lovers joined in with carols and songs from the shows.
“It went really well and we had a great audience,” said organiser and tuba player Mark Harvey.
The concert raised money for the Parachute Regiment Welfare charity.
“We’ve made £900 and there is still money to be counted,” said Mr Harvey.
“It’s always been well supported over the years and this year was the same.
“Working with the Parachute Regiment Band was an honour and the two bands worked really well together to produce a fantastic evening’s entertainment which was enjoyed by all.
“At the end of the day if you put on a simple concert and encourage people to stand up and sing carols it goes down very well.”
