180 children every day suffer scalds from hot drinks which are serious enough to require hospital treatment in England and Wales (2010 national burn data).
Prevention Town is currently fundraising to produce a child friendly animation, creating awareness of the dangers from hot drinks and the damage they can cause. The hot drinks scalds prevention
animation when produced, will be delivered to all 27,000 schools in the UK and be available to view on the Prevention Town website free of charge. To support this incredibly important campaign

Prevention Town did try to seek the support of the drinks industry, all of whom were not interested in supporting the initiative. Prevention Town is not saying any one manufacturer is responsible for all of the hot drinks scalds, this simply could not be true! However, 180 children a day are scalded by hot drinks, so a percentage, however big or small, must land on some corporate giants door. All we ask is that we receive some help in making the public aware of the issue and collectively,

Hair irons have become a new burns issue in the home over the past 10 years. A toddler grabbing straighteners left in reach, will leave them with horrific thickness burns, that could require skin graft operations, every year until the child’s skin stops growing.
We want to raise £15k, to make the scalds from hot drinks prevention animation, to be distributed to all schools and hospitals.
