Old workmates welcome Olly

X Factor's Olly Murs popped into his old office last week during his brief visit home.

The singer popped back to Witham last Monday and Tuesday to pay fleeting visits to friends and family and get some footage which was aired on Saturday night.

As well as playing a few frames of pool at The George in Newland Street, Olly, 25, dropped in on former colleagues at Climate Energy Ltd in Freebournes Road.

The call centre was buzzing when Olly arrived with a small film crew and took his time meeting and catching up with his former work mates.

During his time at Climate Energy the X Factor sensation would handle calls from people seeking advice on energy efficiency in and around the home.

Tracy Baird, Customer Services Manager and Olly’s former boss, said: “It was a pleasure working with Olly. We are extremely proud of how well he is doing although we all miss his dance moves and his tremendous voice. He is in the right place to showcase his skills and show his true talent now.”

Climate Energy had to keep the visit quiet to minimise disruption but the team there said they are all backing him to make it to the final.

Vicky Murs, Olly mother, said Climate Energy had been great with Olly, allowing him the flexibility to go for the early auditions of the show.

While back in town Olly also had the opportunity to stop off at Mama Dell’s in Newland Street.

The cafe, whose staff claim to be the singers’ biggest fans, have been backing Olly by naming a breakfast after him, teaming up with the Witham Times for a promotion on the breakfast and donating cash from the Olly breakfast to Children in Need.

Owner Simone Iorizzo said Olly’s driver popped in last Monday evening and ordered a coffee and some walnut cake and last Tuesday Olly stopped by and took away one of the tasty breakfasts that bares his name.

She said: “He signed T-shirts for my two little girls and autographs for other people, he is such a nice bloke.”
