I think there should be a couple of days knocked off the summer holidays to make up for lost time.

Anyone know why these schools are closing early now they can't blame the weather?

H&S dictates kids get wrapped in cotton wool, and allows teachers the opportunity to escape liability laws. Problem is, give the kids the day off because of snow and ice, and voila, off they go, sliding down hills on dustbin lids, without goggles, gloves, or the H&S Executive looking on. Blame the parents if anything then happens, but of course the only way kids will learn is to go to school - oh, they're closed, aren't they? Bring back common sense!
