THE big freeze shows no sign of letting up in north Essex.

The Met Office is forecasting heavy snow in Colcheter from 9am on Saturday.

Light snow is expected all day on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures will not be as severe as first thought, remaining above freezing throughout the day and dipping to freezing overnight.

Trains and buses were running but rail operator National Express East Anglia warned short notice delays and cancellations should be expected.

Buses through the area are similarly affected.

Driving conditions on main roads are better than previous days, but remain hazardous on side roads that have not been gritted.
