Young woman mugged in daylight attack

A mugger repeatedly punched a young woman across her face in broad daylight before stealing her purse.

The victim, in her twenties, was attacked in a walkway just off The Broadway, Silver End, at 4.40pm last Wednesday.

The man asked for her purse, which contained £190 of cash and cards, but when she refused to hand it over he punched her numerous times in the face causing bruising and swelling.

Investigating officer Dc Joanne Scutchey said: “Street robberies are extremely rare in Silver End, and this was a particularly despicable crime in that a woman was punched in the face several times.”
