More than £44,000 of parking fines were handed out in a single street over the past two and a half years.

A total of 630 penalty charge notices have been issued in Guithavon Street, Witham, since 2009 with 300 of them being for parking in the much disputed clearway.

To date the Parking Partnership have collected almost £21,000 as the initial £70 fine is halved if paid within 14 days.

Witham Town Council and businesses along Guithavon Street have argued against the clearway restriction in the road, which has accounted for £21,000 of the fines since it was put in place in February 2010.
