Police helicopter used in search for burglar

The police helicopter circled parts of Witham hunting for a burglar who had stolen thousands of pounds.

The police were called to Maltings Lane yesterday just before 3pm after reports of a burglary in which a laptop, cash and jewellery had been taken.

Officers on the ground searched for the thief, who was believed to still be in the area, but no one was arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 3334444 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

You quite regularly see the police helicopter around Witham (day and night). Nice to know how unsuccessful they are at catching thieves in broad daylight.

What a waste of money the police helicopter is.
All it seems to do is let grown men be Biggles and live childrens fantasies
That money could be better spent in keeping childrens homes open
