District councillors are urging their county counterparts to speak to them first about the future of two recycling centres.
Wendy Schmitt, Braintree Council’s environment cabinet member, is seeking assurance from Essex County Council that it will consult them about any decisions to be taken about the centres in Perry Road, Witham and the Springwood Industrial Estate, Braintree.
Residents had feared the Witham centre was earmarked for closure but the county council last week assured them that was not the case.
However, opening hours could still change.
