Worried mums with children were forced to take their lives in their hands at a busy junction.
Safety concerns were raised after four sets of pedestrian crossing lights were all turned off at the Bridge Street junction with Spinks Lane, Hatfield Road and Howbridge Road.
The lights have been turned off as overhead electricity cables are removed and underground ones are installed in Spinks Lane by UK Power Networks.
Work started on May 31 and has now finished.
Hatfield Road resident Melissa Smith, 22, had to dodge the traffic with her three-year-old daughter Ruby Smith and son Jack Pocock, one and a half.
Miss Smith said: “I thought how am I supposed to get my little uns’ across?"
A UK Power Networks spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
