Opening hours could be cut at a commuter village’s train station ticket office.
The McNulty Study was commissioned by the Government to review efficiency and value for money on the railways.
Category D stations with high numbers of commuters and revenue between £1m and £2m - including Hatfield Peverel - could see a reduction in ticket office hours.
The report also recommends that ticket offices be shut completely at category E stations - such as Colchester Town - which have only one member of staff and annual ticket revenue of less than £1m.
