A war veteran has voiced his disgust at the state of a remembrance garden.
Ron Sanders, president of the Witham branch of the Royal British Legion, has criticised Braintree Council for not tending to the garden in Newland Street, Witham.
He said: “The flower gardens look like weed gardens.
“I was a sergeant in the Grenadiers and I have got a lot of mates buried, so seeing it in such a mess is terrible."
Jackie Brown, Braintree Council spokesman, said: “The war memorials were last maintained before Christmas as part of the winter maintenance.
“The next one is spring time maintenance which will be in about two weeks."
