Two more purses have been stolen by thieves operating in the town centre.

An 86-year-old woman had a purse, containing £100 in cash, stolen from her handbag in High Street shortly after 9.30am last Tuesday.

In a separate incident, a purse containing £15 cash and a bank card was taken from a handbag in a shopping trolley in Morrisons supermarket, in Wycke Hill, between 10.18am and 11am last Wednesday.

Sgt Perry Land, of Maldon police, has warned shoppers not to leave their bags unattended.
