TWO students at a Maldon school have been accepted onto courses at prestigious drama schools.
Connor Mayes and David Ponting, who are both in their final year of study at Plume School’s sixth form, in Fambridge Road, underwent strenuous auditions and overcame thousands of other hopefuls to secure their places.
Connor has been awarded a place at London’s Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts which, founded in 1911, is Britain’s oldest theatre arts training school, while David has been accepted at East 15 Acting School, in Loughton.
Head of Drama, Athena Marinos, said: “It's an excellent achievement for two young, accomplished actors who have both worked tirelessly to get into such highly regarded establishments.
“It has been a privilege watching the performing development of both students since they began their school life at Plume. It will not be too long until we see them on the silver screen.”
She added: “They are an inspiration to other young people wishing to enter the performing arts industry and follow their dreams."
Both students have accepted their places and are due to start their courses in September.
