RNLI crews from Burnham were sent out to the crew of a boat that had run out of fuel in freezing conditions.
The three people aboard the motor boat were suffering from severe cold after going into the River Crouch to try and refloat their boat when it ran aground on marshes near Hullbridge.
Lifeboat crews took them to the Brandy Hole Yacht Club where they were taken on to Southend Hospital.
The incident occurred at about 8am on Sunday.
