Maldon: Town post office set to move again

MALDON’S post office could be on the move once again.
Plans to relocate it from its current location at the top end of High Street to the former Maldon Cottage Restaurant at King Georges Place, further down High Street, already have the backing of Maldon Town Council.
At a meeting earlier this week, councillors said that customers would welcome the increased opening hours being suggested and that they hoped the move would help regenerate the lower end of High Street.
However, concerns were raised about accessibility, with David Denyer suggesting it could be “a distance too far” for the elderly.
Maldon District Council is due to run the rule over the move at a meeting of its own on Thursday.
Consultation over the proposals concludes on February 28, with the service change earmarked to come into force at some stage in March.
