A budding pop star who beat of thousands of hopefuls to get into the final of a national talent competition is hoping to launch a career in the music industry.

Ryan Taylor, from Tiptree, was picked from 10,000 entries in The Break Into competition by a team of judges, which included Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.

The 27 year old, who went to Thurstable School, was announced as runner up in the competition on Monday, losing out to the winning top spot by fellow competitor, Ben Hague, by only a few votes.

Mr Taylor said: “I was disappointed not to win at first, but looking back at the votes and statistics it is amazing really and very encouraging.

“I got 12,885 votes within six days, so it is kind of exciting because in this day and age you only need to sell 5,000 to 7,000 copies of a single to be in the top five in the UK charts.”

Ryan is now hoping to launch his pop career with a song he wrote about the talent competition experience.

The single, Slipping the Script, is available to listen to at myspace.com/officialryantaylor
