MORE THAN 300 classic cars graced an aerodrome for a huge car rally in Stow Maries at the weekend.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome hosted the Charity Classic Vehicle Club’s car rally "The Great War Run" on Sunday as the hundreds of colourful classic cars completed their journey at the historic site.

The sun shone and the BBQ, Bar and Ice Creams were all in full swing and the public got a rare chance to see models such as The Pup and the SE5 close up.

The cars began at Sutton Hall in Rochford before setting out on their 50 mile journey through the Essex countryside.

Arriving at the aerodrome, they formed a static display, with prizes being presented for best dressed along with a raffle.

It was the aerodrome’s first Donation Day of the year, with the club supporting the Help for Heroes charity, with its next one taking place on September 16.

All donations will go toward restoring different areas of the site.
