THE community came together to help spruce up green areas across Maldon.
Maldon in Bloom, Maldon District Council’s parks and countryside community officer and offenders undertaking community payback helped to clear Olympic Avenue in Longfields Park.
The payback team, who were completing unpaid work, replaced dead trees and cleared vegetation while Maldon in Bloom planted special wildflowers provided by Kew Gardens.
The council’s countryside and coast team regularly work with offenders as part of community payback programs across the district.
Since last September, more than 2,000 hours of community payback and volunteer hours have taken place in several parks and open spaces across the district.
If you are interested in volunteering or have suggestions for project ideas, email countrysideandcoast@maldon. gov.uk.
