A salon has set up a support group to help those who have suffered hair loss through cancer treatment and alopecia.

Reed Hair, High Street, Maldon, has started the new hair loss support group to help people across the district.

In June last year stylist Zoe Kingham joined Salons that Care’s mynewhair scheme to help support people with medical hair loss.

The salon held its first support group meeting earlier this week.

Vicki Meredith, co-owner of Reed Hair, said: “After discovering there is absolutely no information and support for ladies suffering from medical hair loss, due to chemotherapy or alopecia, in our area, we decided to set up our own group.

“While every event will have a guest speaker it is a chance for sufferers to get together and chat about their experience of not only losing their hair but their cancer journey.”

The hairdressers will hold events every six weeks with the next on Monday, April 30.

Ms Meredith added: “At the meeting we had tears and laughter. It was an honour to listen to such strong ladies beating their battles.”

Future meetings will include advice and fun activities. People can join the closed Facebook group by searching Reed Hair Support Group.
