A new café and tearoom with a range of more than 34 exotic tea has opened in Maldon.

The Arteasan Café Tearoom in Madison Heights, Maldon, is run by Sarah Pharoah.

Sarah, who lives in East Hanningfield, has worked in the catering and hospitality business for a number of years.

She said: “It has been a dream of mine forever. We are hoping to bring something a little more upmarket but without the high end price.

“We have cakes and tray bakes, 34 varieties of loose leaf teas, we also have our own blend of coffee.

“We are offering something different but we still have all your normal coffees and we will be doing afternoon teas after Easter.

“I have always been in the catering and hospitality business. I have a nine-year-old son and have been focusing on him but now he is a little bit older and the opportunity came up at the right time.”

The idea for the unusual name came about with the help of another worker in Madison Heights.

Sarah added: “We were trying to work out different names and artisan means to create and we decided on a play of words.”
