A motorcylist suffered a "suspected broken leg" after a crash in Burnham on Friday. 

Emergency services were called to Station Road in the town at 3.40pm after reports a rider, aged in his 20s, struck vehicles, including a bus.

The air ambulance was called to the scene but the man was later taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance after being treated for a suspected broken leg. 

Police later described his injuries as serious. 

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "A rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew and air ambulance from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched to this.

"They treated a man who had a suspected broken leg. He was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance for further care."

No passengers on board the bus were injured when the crash happened with a spokesman for First Essex saying the driver had been left "shaken".

He said:” On Friday afternoon in Burnham, a motorcyclist that witnesses state was riding out of control, smashed into a parked car and taxi before hiiting one of our buses.

"The road was closed whist the emergency services tended to the injured motorcyclist, no passengers on board the bus were injured, but our driver was shaken after experiencing the incident."
