A CHARITY is set to bring back its hugely popular bubble rush to Maldon in April.

The Farleigh Hospice Bubble Rush came to Promenade Park in Maldon for the first time last year, and following its huge success it will return once again on April 8.

The bubble rush consists of a five kilometre route through the park which can be walked, ran, sprinted or jogged.

Bubble Rush events are held around the UK from April to October and each one raises funds to support the work of hospices. They are not timed, and anyone can take part in any shape or form.

This year in Maldon, there will be five different coloured bubble stations blowing out heaps of colourful bubbles for people to dive into.

The event is suitable for all ages and family groups, with it also being accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Registration for this year’s event is now open until Monday March 26.

Taking part for adults will cost £20 and under 18s £10.

The fee will include event administration costs, a T-shirt, medal, certificates, a bottle of water, snacks and a Zumba warm up.

This event will be followed by a similar bubble run in Chelmsford in August.

The event has no minimum sponsorship. It’s predicted that if all 1250 bubblers could raise just £40 each, the hospice would be able to raise a huge £50,000.

Last year, the bubble rush events managed to raise more than £110,000 for Farleigh Hospice.

The hospice supports people within Mid Essex who are affected by life-limiting illnesses. To provide their services, it costs £16,039 daily.

The hospice rely on fundraising, donations and gifts left in wills to provide their services, with 40 per cent of their yearly running costs being funded by the NHS.

Registration will close on Monday March 26. Early bird tickets are already sold out.
