WAITING times for a recycling centre in Maldon have been criticised.
Users of the recycling centre on Park Drive, Maldon endured long waits on Sunday with queues of frustrated motorists snaking far back along the road.
Essex County Council’s rules introduced back in October 2016 banned vans, pick-up trucks and commercial vehicles from dropping off waste at Burnham’s recycling centre in Springfield Road.
The new rules proved controversial, as some residents claimed this would put too much pressure on recycling centres such as Maldon and centres such as Burnham would be under used.
Steve Gallant, of Althorne, visited Maldon recycling centre on Sunday.
He said: “As people will see from the photos, these are the long waiting time users have to put up with, stretching all the way back to Park Drive.
“Some waiting times can be excessive and totally unacceptable.
“This while the Burnham facility remains underutilised.”
